What Is Paint Correction?

Paint correction is a professional process that removes imperfections from your car's paint surface — such as swirl marks, light scratches, oxidation, water spots, and hazing — to restore a deep, glossy, mirror-like finish.

Over time, your car’s paint naturally suffers from damage caused by automatic car washes, improper washing techniques, sun exposure, and environmental contaminants. These leave visible flaws that dull the paint and ruin the shine.

Paint correction uses specialized polishing machines, pads, and compounds to carefully smooth out the paint surface by removing a thin layer of clear coat (the transparent protective layer over the paint). This reveals a fresh, flawless layer beneath.

There are different stages of paint correction, depending on the severity of the damage:

  • Single-stage correction: Removes light swirl marks and boosts gloss.

  • Two-stage or multi-stage correction: Targets deeper scratches, oxidation, and more visible defects.

It’s a highly skilled and delicate process that requires expertise and the right tools — when done correctly, it can dramatically transform your car's appearance and even make it look better than new.
